Uniforms

The uniform unites the entire squadron with a cohesive and professional look and standard. When you’re wearing your uniform, you are expected to look and behave your best because you are representing the 246 Air Cadet Squadron and the Royal Canadian Air Cadets.

Supplies and standards

Each cadet is issued a uniform and is required to take care of and wear it according to standards as defined in the Cadet and Junior Canadian Rangers Dress Instructions.

A complete 246 Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron uniform package includes:

  • Tunic
  • Pants
  • Shirt
  • Tie
  • Wedge
  • Gloves
  • Socks
  • Parade boots
  • Belt
  • Toque
  • Parka
  • Crest for wedge
  • Squadron badges
  • Rank slip-ons
  • Name tag
  • Squadron t-shirt

If you require uniform supplies, or have any questions about uniforms, please complete the Uniform Replacement Request Form or contact the Supply Officer

Please note that replacement parts are exchanged item-for-item—meaning, you must return the original part in order to receive the replacement part.

We are unable to predict how long it will take to acquire new parts. If we have the desired size in stock, it may be exchanged by the next training night. If the part needs to be ordered, the wait time can be significantly longer. For this reason, be sure to submit uniform requests as soon as you can!

If you’re new to the squadron, please note that it can take up to a few months to receive your full uniform after you are measured. As a first step, be sure to check in with the Supply Officer onsite to have your measurements taken.

In the meantime, you are expected to meet the hair standards and wear an outfit we call “black and whites” which consists of the following items:

  • white long-sleeved collared dress shirt (tucked in)
  • black dress pants
  • black dress shoes

You may also choose to wear a black tie.

Types of dress

Cadets are instructed about the type of dress appropriate to the training activity or event in which they’re participating. Squadron-issued uniforms and embellishments are to be worn in the following typical configurations.
